Support Staff

2014-2015

We are lucky to have a fantastic support staff at our school that provides wisdom, talent and experience to our school community all year long.

 

Maeva Carter, Assistant Principal

Maeva is an experienced Assistant Principal and Instructional Specialist. She will lead our Student Success Teams (SST), Section 504 Evaluations and Individualized Education Program Meetings. She is an excellent point person who can clarify any recommendations made by the SST. Please feel free to reach out to her.

 

Jamie Caliston, School Nurse

Jamie provides first aid to students on campus and reviews medical issues such as food allergies, asthma, seizure disorders, etc. She provides medical treatments per doctors’ orders with the proper documentation from parents and pediatricians. She also trains staff to follow doctors’ orders and administer any emergency prescriptions. If your child has a medical issue, please make sure you have his/her medical file updated with the nurse. She is at school on Fridays.

 

Paul Debler, Occupational Therapist

Paul works on fine motor skills with our children who have special needs, and also provides invaluable guidance to parents. If you have any concerns, please reach out to our OT, who is here on Wednesdays.

 

John Maniord, Adaptive Physical Education Teacher

John provides services that help to develop coordination, balance and gross motor skills for our students who have needs in those areas.

 

Chrissa Patterson, Physical Therapist

Chrissa is available to provide physical therapy in a school setting. Chrissa and John are on campus on an as-needed basis.

 

Danna Wilson, Speech Therapist

Danna provides services to students who have articulation needs, as well as expressive and receptive language needs. If you have a concern regarding your child’s speech, please don’t hesitate to contact her. She is here on Wednesdays.

 

Sara Saghizadeh, School Psychologist

Sara collaborates with our Student Success Team and our Individualized Educational Program Teams to help determine the best possible educational plan for those students who have individualized needs. She also evaluates students when a disability is suspected, and helps guide teachers and parents when they have concerns about a student’s social-emotional well-being. She is on campus on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

We also have counselors available from Phillips Graduate Institute for our students facing emotional challenges. The counselors work with children in groups to help them with social skills, aggression, focusing, divorce, trauma, new babies, and other social and emotional issues.

Administrators will be meeting with families to improve their attendance and connecting them to resources, setting up contracts, making home visits, and holding School Attendance Review Team Meetings and/or School Attendance Review Board (SARB) Meetings for students who are truant. With your help we can achieve any goal!

 

Erin Leeds, Library Aide

Erin works with our teachers and students on developing a love of reading and library and research skills.

 

Judy Guardia, Computer Teacher

Judy teaches technology and critical thinking skills to our students as they learn to evaluate reliable sources of information for research. Ms. Guardia also assists with our Smarter Balanced Test in April and May.

 

Robert Torres, Physical Education Assistant

Robert assists our teachers in developing a PE curriculum and in instructing the students in our PE program.

 

Joanie Carson, Office Tech
